Project Summary

We undertook a study on how model making techniques and material can emphasise or illustrate specific design choices and concepts. Our subject was Virginia Kerridge's House in Country, located in New South Wales (NSW), Australia. Prior to developing a plan for the model, we underwent several material experimentations, many of which didn't progress anywhere. However, some saw potential, for instance the process of gluing sand onto the walls of the plaster mold, to replicate the appearance of a rock once the plaster has set. This process was used in the robust stereotomic forms of the project. We then identified stark constrasts of themes throughout the project. These themes were represented and emphasised through different material types and model making techniques.
